The Cake Shed is my little shed-sized bakery, right outside my home here in West Yorkshire. What started as a simple hobby — baking for family and friends — slowly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

After seeing “cake sheds” in America, I couldn’t stop thinking about bringing the idea to Elland. So I took a leap, did up a shed on my drive, and The Cake Shed was born. It’s since become known as one of the smallest cake shops in Halifax — and I’m so proud that it holds a 5★ council health rating too.

Every weekend, I fill the shelves with freshly baked treats — from Victoria Sponge Pots to gooey brownies and blondies, and my old-school chocolate fudge cake. Most Saturdays we sell out (which still amazes me!), and anything left is snapped up on Sunday before everything is packed away ready for the next weekend.

The Cake Shed is more than just a little bakery to me. It’s something I’ve built with confidence, hard work and a lot of love — and I’m so grateful for the support from our local community.
